There wasn’t enough space to show off all the stock at Penn-Mar Flooring, customers had to go to the window if they wanted to see how a sample looked in natural light, and some entrances to their access road were being eliminated.
So, once the Allens’ lease was up, they looked for a better site. Last week, they moved into a larger space at 1319 Lafayette Blvd., which is co-owned by one of their longtime clients, Abby Construction Co.
“We were always proud of our customer service and installation expertise, but not the showroom,” said Sylvia Allen. “It was never comfortable or nice or modern feeling.”
The new, 10,000-square-foot showroom is double the size of their former store, which has allowed them to buy more carpet, tile and other flooring products in bulk and pass on the savings to their customers.
